The Electrification & Automation (E&A) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing in our Future Grids portfolio to create the power distribution grid of the future.
The Siemens R&D team is looking for an R&D Engineer to join our team in the Electrification and Automation division. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for the continuous engineering and product care activities of existing Low voltage Motor Control Centers products as well supporting ongoing development projects. You will work in a matrix style organization requiring interdepartmental coordination skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. Headquartered in Wendell, NC, the EA R&D team executes a diverse portfolio of projects for low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment. We are looking for a Product Developer - Low Voltage MCC to join our R&D Low Voltage team in Electrification and Automation division.
Role Description:
- Responsible for developing the design of the product. Design parts and assemblies (Structure, Bus assemblies, panels, doors, supports, insulation, hardware) following standards and complying to project scope and prototype testing.
- Understand and develop designs to fulfill Requirement Tracking Matrix, Development Specification, Design to Manufacturing, Standards, and Prototype scope, taking into account impact of each part and assembly.
- Coordinate product development with project team, management, and other departments such production, quality, purchasing.
- Review quality of own designs and other team members.
- Release parts and assemblies on time with proper documentation and follow set in SAP, ensuring complete and accurate Bills of materials such quantities and raw material, and validate parts have good quality for production.
You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited university or college
- 3-5 years of experience in in continuous engineering or product development environment
- 2+ years' experience working with electrical distribution equipment.
- Knowledge with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for power distribution equipment.
- Knowledge of 3D engineering tools (Solid Edge, Solidworks, Unigraphics/NX). NX is preferred.
- Ability to be on-site in office 3 days a week, and travel 15% annually
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with MRP (Material Requirements Planning) solutions (SAP, Oracle).
- Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for power distribution equipment in specific for Low Voltage Motor Control Centers.
- Commitment to develop, quality, and drive.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with project team and other departments.

- The pay range for this position is $ $66,500 - $114,000. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
