As a Lead Electronic Hardware Engineer, you will design innovative power supply products for supercomputing, industrial, telecommunications, and datacenter applications and lead the product development process from concept realization through introduction of product into high volume production. These projects will include New Product Introduction (NPI), Direct Material Productivity (DMP), resolving customer issues, and sustaining existing products. Reporting to the R&D/Technology Manager, this position will be expected to demonstrate leadership globally.

As a Lead Electronic Hardware Engineer, you will design innovative power supply products for supercomputing, industrial, telecommunications, and datacenter applications and lead the product development process from concept realization through introduction of product into high volume production. These projects will include New Product Introduction (NPI), Direct Material Productivity (DMP), resolving customer issues, and sustaining existing products. Reporting to the R&D/Technology Manager, this position will be expected to demonstrate leadership globally.
Your responsibilities
- Evaluate customer requirements and selecting appropriate topologies for AC/DC and DC/DC applications
- Design analysis including modeling, simulation, and control loops
- Optimize designs with an eye toward efficiency, density, and cost
- Magnetics design and optimization
- Create schematic, bills of material, and PCB layouts
- Create high density PCB layout with noise and EMI mitigation
- Conduct design reviews and follow NPI process
- Perform hands-on lab work building and debugging prototypes
- Perform electrical characterization, design validation, and qualification
- Introduce the product into high-volume production
- Provide technical support for production and field product issues
- Lead projects and collaborate in cross-functional teams
- Prepare invention disclosures to protect intellectual property
- Mentor junior engineers
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Electronics or equivalent from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 5 years of professional engineering design experience
Desired Characteristics:
- Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Electronics preferred
- Experience with new product definition designing AC/DC power supplies, test and analysis tools, and systems
- Experience with SiC and GaN devices-based power converter design
- High frequency magnetics design knowledge
- Ability to drive, understand and adhere to product roadmaps, define new platforms, and extend products for AC/DC rectifier advancement
- Strong circuit simulation experience (PLECS/ PSPICE/ SIMPLIS/ SIMetrix)
- Hands on experience related to EMC of switch mode power supplies
- Knowledge of IPC 9592B - Requirements for Power Conversion Devices for the Computer and Telecommunications Industries
- Self-motivated, detail oriented, strong team player
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively
- Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to drive projects to completion
