A Snapshot of Your Day
As the Head of Turbo Selection Tools, you will be responsible for all aspects of the software framework that drives the selection and engineering of our turbo compressors, a critical part of our process and essential for our business success.
Your day begins with a stand-up meeting where you coordinate with your team on upcoming tasks and developments. You ensure the motivation of your global team by applying modern leadership principles and inspiring them to achieve excellent work. You provide guidance and make architectural decisions in consultation with the leaders of other Selection Tools. You are the primary contact and key account for your stakeholders in Bid Management, Engineering, and Service. You successfully address and balance the individual requirements of your stakeholders. To achieve this, you have developed strategies and methods in collaboration with other Selection Tools Managers. You are an expert in the field of engineering tools and are intrinsically motivated by automation and digitalization.
The position reports to the Head of Product Digitalization (SE TI CP PRM PD) at the N-4 level and is directly responsible for managing a global team of 25 engineers and software developers. The role can be based at any main Compression location, including Duisburg/DE, Le Havre/FR, Houston/US, Painted Post/US, Olean/US, Naroda/IN, or Pune/IN.

The base salary range for this position in Olean or Painted Post, New York is $114,700 - $232,100 .
Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

How You'll Make an Impact
- Organizational, procedural, and process responsibility for the Turbo Selection Tools and their corresponding landscape to ensure high automation for the execution teams.
- Build business value by simplifying the selection process for our complex products and discovering new methods to enhance it.
- Support a harmonized vision and roadmap, delivering high-quality and impactful improvements to your cross-functional partners.
- Act as an Agile Product Owner with a team, handling support, project, and related requests.
- Focus on sustainable software development alongside fast and agile release cycles to increase engineering productivity.
- Stay close to our internal customers and actively seek regular feedback to improve the overall landscape and ensure the success of your team.
- Your ultimate goal is to achieve the perfect balance between ease of selection and the flexibility to optimize down to the last detail, finding new ways to automate this process.
- Measure your organization's performance through critical metrics such as saved engineering effort, software quality, uptime, on-time and on-budget project completion, and user feedback.
- Foster a mentality of curiosity, innovation, and engineering excellence with a strong "can-do" mentality within your team and yourself by embodying values of leadership excellence.
- Provide end-user training on implemented product changes and best-practice utilization.
- A degree in STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with a minimum of 5 years' experience and a proven track record in leading software development teams. Those with more years of experience may be considered for a more senior level.
- Experience in managing teams in a global and culturally diverse organization.
- Proven project management capability with virtual distributed teams.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and understandable fashion to leadership.
- Demonstrated financial stewardship and budget management experience.
- Up to 10% travel, including international, should be expected.
- Proven experience in conceptualizing, architecting, and constructing selection and engineering software solutions for complex engineered-to-order products, and associated processes, for turbomachinery equipment.
- Proficiency in English is required.
