Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a full-time BE/BC Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist to join our Coagulation Program and co-lead our multidisciplinary Pediatric Stroke Program in collaboration with Pediatric Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine.
The Comprehensive Pediatric Stroke Program is one of only a few in the United States. The growing Coagulation Program provides both inpatient and outpatient consultative services for bleeding and thrombotic disorders. Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics is a federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Center. The Hemophilia Treatment Center partners with the adult Hemophilia Program at Truman Medical Center. The Hematology/Oncology Division has strong, growing programs in Oncology, Sickle Cell, and Bone Marrow Transplant.
The candidate will participate in clinical, research, and educational efforts and should have an interest in mentoring residents and/or H/O fellows. The Division is made up of 29 total physicians who focus in one of 4 areas – Oncology, Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, or Inpatient Hem/Onc Hospitalist care. The Hematology Section is comprised of 4 physicians. Inpatients are overseen by 4 Hem/Onc services – an inpatient resident/fellow H/O service, 1 chemo service, 1 BMT service, and 1 inpatient coagulation consultation service – all staffed by residents and/or advanced practice professionals.
The person who accepts this position will exhibit excellent clinical skills and a desire to advance the field of Coagulation medicine and general hematology through research and collaboration. He/she will be involved in all aspects of the Coagulation Program with a focus on patients with stroke, including clinical, research, and administration, and will possess strong leadership/team skills.
