SUMMARY:
The Human Resource Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy. The Director manages the day-to-day operations of the human resources department, provides HR strategy across the organization and is a key member of the Anixter Center leadership team. Under the general direction of the CEO, the Director serves as a resource to employees and supervisors in the areas of talent management, performance management, learning and development, and other various human resources functions. The Director effectively collaborates with all stakeholders ensuring continuous improvements through the planning and development of top-notch human resources programs.

REQUIREMENTS
SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Human Resources Operations & Leadership
- Be a role model for Anixter's mission, vision and values with a deliberate focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
- Lead the HR function specifically in labor relations, talent management, organizational and performance management, and training and development.
- Provide leadership in union contract negotiation, contract management, and other labor relations. Acts as the organizational liaison with the union.
- Respond to all questions and/or requests by Department of Human Rights, EEOC, Department of Employment Security, and other governmental agencies. Represent the agency at hearings.
- Oversee the completion of essential HR documentation including but not limited to background checks, employment verifications, EEO-1 reporting, licensing & credentialing verification, MVR checks in accordance with laws and regulations.
- Provide on-going coaching and training to staff and managers in all areas pertaining to HR including union grievances, employee relations, performance, and separation.
- Communicate necessary updates to the appropriate stakeholders including union representatives.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources
- Oversees all aspects of employee relations, including disciplinary action, termination, promotions, reasonable accommodations, leave requests, worker's comp claims and grievances.
- Oversees investigations involving employees, included HR portions of OIG investigations, corporate compliance investigations, etc... Works with external counsel to reduce risk for Anixter.
- Develops and implements an HR dashboard on a variety of pertinent HR metrics; develops goals and objectives based on dashboard data; implements strategies, and reports outcomes to the Executive Team and Board of Directors
- Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, retention, training and equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies and procedures, HR processes, organizational training initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; recruitment and onboarding, performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
- Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
- Develops and implements departmental budget.
- Managers the members of the HR team including recruiting, hiring and training of HR team members as well as ongoing training, performance evaluation, coaching and discipline of the HR Team. Creates an environment that motivates the team to achieve individual, departmental, and organizational goals. Monitors the team's day-to-day activities ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.
- Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
- Oversees the employee files and HRIS system to ensure compliance. Maintains the HRIS system; builds and utilizes HRIS reports to analyze outcomes and make decisions and is primary liaison with HRIS vendor
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree human resources, business administration, or related field; or equivalent education and experience
- Experience in human resources, operations, or administration required; 5+ years preferred.
- Strong supervisory, management, and leadership skills required; Human Resources supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience recruiting in multiple disciplines and salary levels using all areas of sourcing.
- Experience in working with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, and affirmative action plan requirements highly preferred.
- Experience in capturing metrics and producing various employment reports highly preferred.
- Labor management experience highly preferred
- HRCI and/or SHRM certification highly preferred
- Prior leadership experience with EDI initiatives highly preferred.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software; Able to create and present dashboards, charts and graphs to different audiences in an easy-to-understand way
