Job Description

SUMMARY

Using highly developed assembly and manufacturing skills and with a minimum of supervision; assembles, fabricates, builds, modifies and adjusts a variety of mechanical units and subassemblies

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assembles mechanical units and subassemblies requiring the use of detailed assembly knowledge and mechanical skill. Properly positons and connects numerous parts and mechanisms, which must be held to exacting tolerances. May fabricate, alter or repair simple fixtures, dies and gauges.

2. Responsible for (but not limited to) setting up and performing most of the following operations: saws, drill presses, deburring equipment, tube benders, glass beaders, EDM machine, degreasers, pressure test equipment, assembly fixtures, Robinson fin press, Voss fin press, tube plate machine, hand tools and power tools.

3. With minimum if direction works from blueprints, sketches, written and verbal instructions

4. Checks produced parts carefully during set-up and throughout the assembly process.

5. Performs adjustments, maintenance and lubrication. Maintains necessary hand tools and measurement devices for proper performance of the job.

6. Performs work in other cells and other related duties as directed.

7. Instructs and leads less experienced assemblers in the correct procedures and may recommend to the supervisor improved assembly techniques.

8. Maintains a clean work area and observe all Lytron safety rules.
