This position is responsible for implementing plans for local internal and external communications, philanthropy and community affairs. The role reports to a Director of Corporate Affairs, with a dotted-line to the Amgen Capability Center Site Head.Key responsibilities of the Corporate Affairs Senior Manager, Amgen Capability Center in Tampa include:Develop and implement the site’s internal and external communication strategy, with a particular emphasis on raising Amgen’s profile as an employer of choice.Implement a site engagement plan to build a culture consistent with the Amgen Values and to ensure staff are informed,Exemplify growth mindset and maintain subject matter expertise in best practices to support the site’s leadership.Can successfully shift between tactical and strategic communications, build and sustain strong and collaborative relationships, craft succinct and engaging key messages and communications plans, and deliver results.Establish and enhance relationships with key internal stakeholders across the organization to effectively drive consistent processes.Support the Site lead with presentations and scripts/messaging for All Hands meetings, execution of the local media strategy, and implementing a community affairs and philanthropy program to drive staff engagement and strengthen key relationships in local government and industry.Proactively assess change management and communications needs.Stay abreast of local and industry trends to best serve the site.Partner with Corporate Affairs colleagues to manage initiatives and campaigns in the Tampa region.Collaborate with site employees and enterprise colleagues to drive Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DI&B) programs, initiatives and events at the site.Develop and maintain high credibility with stakeholders and effectively influence without authority.What we expect of youWe are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The professional we seek has these qualifications.Basic Qualifications:Doctorate degree and 2 years of Strategic Communications, Public Relations and Corporate Communication experienceOrMaster’s degree and 4 years of Strategic Communications, Public Relations and Corporate Communication experienceOrBachelor’s degree and 6 years of Strategic Communications, Public Relations and Corporate Communication experienceOrAssociate’s degree and 10 years of Strategic Communications, Public Relations and Corporate Communication experienceOrHigh school diploma / GED and 12 years of Strategic Communications, Public Relations and Corporate Communication experiencePreferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism or related fieldMedia, government affairs and community relations experienceKnowledge of the Tampa Region, especially business, government and community organizationsBiotechnology, pharmaceutical or healthcare communications experienceStrategic and creative problem solver with the ability to truly understand business challenges and priorities and develop actionable programs that integrate soundly with business objectivesExperience creating and executing strategic communication programs for a complex, matrixed organizationDemonstrated proficiency working directly with executive management, including the ability to advise, influence, and coach on communication strategies around potentially sensitive issuesAbility to interact with all levels of management and staffAbility to productively navigate a challenging and dynamic environment, and deal with priorities thank can rapidly changeExcellent interpersonal skills; enthusiastic, team player and self-starter; serious commitment to hard work and excellenceOutstanding written and oral communication skills, ability to distill complex issues and information into simple, compelling, and relevant messagesChange management experienceExperience establishing two-way channels to open communication lines, create dialogue and ensure messages are reaching staff at all levelsDemonstrated experience using social digital media tools for professional communicationCrisis management experienceWhat you can expect of usAs we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for your professional and personal growth and well-being.
