Summary:

In your role as the Senior Chemist (Technical Services), your primary responsibility is to carry out downstream application research tailored to the market demands within the North American region. You will engage in collaborative efforts with customers to assess product quality, identify underlying issues, and devise technical solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research & development relevant to downstream applications for the North America market. including developing guide formulations, including solvent borne and water borne PU coatings.
  • Respond to customers feedback on technical problems and improve product value as well as customer satisfaction.
  • Review customer's quality complaints and provide technical solution/recommendations.
  • Use product expertise and collaborate with customers to determine root causes in product quality problems.
  • Conduct downstream application research based on North American market needs and introduce products to address customers issue.
  • Perform material characterizations using advanced analytical instruments.
  • Evaluate, formulate, and analyze synthesis work on polyurethane and provide recommendations.
  • Implement new application development to customers' special requests (troubleshooting, formulation, product advises, etc.).
  • Represent the Company at industrial conferences, exhibitions, and technical seminars and maintain professionalism.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree or higher in organic chemistry, polymer science, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of R&D or industry lab experience.
  • Expertise in coating and adhesive industry, with a preference for experience in Polyurethane CASE industry (HDI, IPDI, and HMDI in coatings and adhesives).
  • Strong knowledge of organic chemistry or polymer science.
  • Proficient in experiment design (DOE), execution, data analysis, and report writing.
  • General understanding of isocyanate product technical processes, quality indicators, and downstream applications (coatings, adhesives, sealants).
  • Hands-on experience in a chemistry lab and proficiency in operating analytical instruments.
  • Ability to independently conduct experiments and characterizations.
