Leidos is seeking a software engineer to join our newly formed National Security Sector (NSS) software organization.
Position Summary
The individual will work with the NSS Software Center team on a series of projects to stand-up operations for the Center and to assist in Center activities once it is established. In this SW Engineer role, the candidate will assist the Center Chief Architect to implement software standards and reference architectures that will be used across NSS. In addition, the Center SW Engineer will work with the Center's Resource Manager to design, develop, test, and deploy code to enable and automated the successful deployment of a new COTS Resource Management System (RMS).
The successful candidate will perform hands-on activities and provide technical assistance to the Center stand-up effort, NSS programs and proposal efforts. The individual will be expected to act in place of the CA when needed. In addition to internal NSS efforts, the software engineer will work closely with the SW Accelerator team to transition emerging technologies into NSS for use as differentiated solutions for program teams and proposals.
Experience with software development programs supporting national security customers in a classified setting is required. The successful candidate will have a wide range of technical experience to include mission software development, secure software practices, software architecture, DevOps, cloud technologies, and software validation. This position requires an individual that is willing to evolve into a technical leader within Leidos.
Primary Responsibilities
• Take direction from the Chief Architect and NSS SW Center Lead for technical tasks.
• Design, Develop, Test, and Deploy automation systems to connect disparate Leidos data systems together to support the operation of a COTS Resource Management System within NSS
• Assist in the collection of metrics and other data from NSS programs and combine the data using custom built automations to facilitate the analysis.
• Support the establishment of NSS best practices, lessons learned, and technological approaches for all aspects of software development across the Sector.
• Support the define and evolution of the "NSS Way" of software development that is applied to all programs and internal development efforts within the Sector.
• Support software related proposals and programs to ensure they are following the defined approaches or have documented and approved tailoring plans.
• Implement other technical solutions that support the functions of the NSS SW Center.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Engineering, or Technology area of study and 8+ years of experience or a Master's in a similar area of study with 6+ years of experience.
• At least 4 years of experience developing software systems using a mainstream technical stack (e.g. Java, .Net, etc.)
• At least 2 years of experience developing and deploying software into cloud environments.
• Demonstrated experience working in a DevOps environment with a CI/CD pipeline.
• Demonstrated experience developing data normalization or data transformation software.
• Ability to gain a security clearance for a position of trust within the US government.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact at multiple levels of the organization from program teams to Sector leadership.
• Location: Washington Metropolitan Area with ability to travel to customer sites across the region
Preferred Qualifications
• Recent experience within the National Security domain (Intelligence Community, Homeland Security, or Department of Defense) with an understanding of those missions and operating environments.
• Scaled Agile Development experience or other formal Agile experience.
• Experience working with data gathered or extracted from MS Excel Workbooks
• Certifications in Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.) or Security technologies (CISSP, Security+, etc.)
• Understanding of Leidos technology investments (e.g. IRAD)
• Experience implementing solutions for multiple customers.
