POSITION DESCRIPTION

HGL is seeking a senior-level Environmental Engineer to support our projects in our Overland Park, KS location. The position has the opportunity to be fully remote. This position will be responsible for leading technical execution in design/implementation of feasibility studies, treatability studies, civil and remediation system design, and support during construction for HGL's portfolio of environmental remediation projects for the USEPA, USACE, NASA, and various agencies across the United States and territories. Projects may include remediation, demolition, mine-waste cleanup, in-situ thermal treatment, landfill cap construction, radioactive soil, contaminated sediment removals, O&M, groundwater treatment systems (both in-situ and pump-n-treat) and stabilization projects.

Responsibilities/Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

The person hired for this role will be responsible for:

  • Direct, manage and lead project engineering design teams.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager and engineers, geologists, CAD/GIS specialists and other technical staff in the development of studies/strategies for remediation for contaminated media.
  • Develop engineering studies, plans, designs, and specifications for the remediation of contaminated media.
  • Develop costs estimates and construction workplans for remedial construction.
  • Supporting Civil and Environmental Design Projects.
  • Ensuring project objectives are met.
  • Project schedule development and review.
  • Quality Control.
  • Mentoring junior engineering staff.


Required Skills

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:

  • 15 plus years of engineering experience on Environmental remediation projects for DoD and/or USEPA clients in lead role.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering and PE registration in one or more states.
  • The above-described experience on project involving soil, sediment or mine waste remediation, In-situ and ex-situ groundwater treatment and Landfill or thermal remediation.
  • Ability to direct/develop remedial design documents that are technically sound and accurately reflect the project approach and requirements.
  • Direct relevant experience that demonstrates a history of responsibility, initiative, motivation, and creative problem solving.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).


Preferred Skills

WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT - Preferred, not required

  • Master of Science in Engineering.
  • Hands on MS Project or P6 experience.
  • PFAS/PFOA experience.
  • Experience with Specsintact
