The Challenge:

With the constant increase in velocity of change to keep up with our technology and services, the need for a central group of dedicated senior DevOps/SRE engineers was formed. Their goal is the reduction of run the business workloads through cross organizational standardization, automation and backlog reduction. This group needs a engineering leader to take them onto the next step of transitioning off of support workloads and focusing on large-scale projects.

As a Director of DevOps:
  • You will report to a Director of Engineering.
  • You will manage a growing team of DevOps/SRE engineers with an initial team size of 6
  • As a central team you will collaborate with the development teams and use industry-standard solutions to build automation solutions for common operational/development tasks
  • You will drive standards within your team to monitor service health, log analysis, and automation
  • You will drive software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including Agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • You will push towards operational excellence by identifying opportunities to automate away manual processes.
  • You will drive the reduction of our "run the business", scale our organization and replace costs to our business.
  • You will evaluate and adopt technologies that improve the team efficiency and platform capabilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Software engineer.
  • 5+ years as a people manager
  • Experience using Perforce or Git-based workflows for code management
  • Experience with Python, Golang, C#, or other scripting languages
  • Understand software configuration management and release management.
  • Experience working with ticketing systems such as JIRA.
  • Experience creating technical documentation for internal and external use.
  • Passion for automation and workflow efficiency.
