Siemens Electrification and Automation is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support Siemens customers in designing, developing, and manufacturing world-class power protection and automation panels of substation Protection, automation systems and applications that incorporate Siemens or other automation products.

We are looking for an- experienced Mechanical Engineer. This position will be based at Wendell, NC.

[Role Description]
  • Review customer technical specifications and verify the Siemens solution meets the customer requirements.
  • Develop Mechanical Design, including Panel layout and nameplates schedules for the Protection and Automation Panels, in accordance with customer specifications, industrial standards, and design guidelines using CAD software.
  • Develop enclosure specifications and cutouts drawings for the purchasing process release and release them to the enclosure manufacturers.
  • Create, prepare, and review 2D and 3D CAD model and drawings of components and assemblies for Protection and Automation Panels.
  • Take overall mechanical ownership of the project bill of materials, including developing new assemblies in CAD software, validating functionality, and releasing the part/assemblies on time in SAP to production.
  • Create a Digital Twin for wire routing and harness to deliver optimized routing and wire lengths for harness manufacturing and panel assembly.
  • Provide factory support if required during the manufacturing process, addressing any challenges when producing the Panels.
  • Collaborate with a cross functional team to drive projects to completion.
  • Help improve our products by working collaboratively to identify design enhancements and then working to integrate them.
  • Help improve our processes and tools by providing feedback to team leads and business excellent teams.
  • Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, manufacturing, and installation phases for the Protection and Automation Panels if required.

You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in mechanical design for Industrial Control Panels or Power Distribution Equipment equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience working with 3D CAD software (Preferred Siemens NX).
  • Proficiency working with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Proficiency working with engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM).
  • Around 5% of travel is expected depending on project assignments and requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of High, Medium and Low Voltage electrical distribution equipment.
  • Knowledge of Protection and Automation Systems and their products used in the electrical systems.
  • Prior experience with complex engineering, production, or service environments.
  • Experience with Salesforce.com.
  • Experience working with SAP or similar MRP/ERP systems.
  • Experience with Siemens TeamCenter
  • Experience with Engineering Base Software
  • Entrepreneurship mindset to create and support process improvements, automation and digitalization of products

  • The pay range for this position is $59,430 - $101,880. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
