Share Food Program ("Share") is the leading hunger relief organization in the Greater Philadelphia region and one of the largest independent food banks in the nation. Food insecurity is a crisis in our communities. The ripple effects of the pandemic, record rates of inflation, and critical cuts to government assistance benefits have plunged even more people into hunger and poverty. Today, Share feeds hundreds of thousands individuals each month-more than half of whom are children and seniors.
Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will manage oversee all financial, human resources, and IT aspects of the organization. The CFO responsibilities include overseeing cash flow planning, directing the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, and create forecasts predicting future growth. To be successful in this role, the candidate should have in-depth knowledge of risk management methods and the ability to create forecasting models in collaboration with senior staff. The successful candidate should also be mission-driven and understand how their performance is an integral part of the work we do as an organization. Ultimately, the CFO will ensure we manage our resources in the most beneficial way and help maximize our funding and advance our organization's mission.
Core Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Financial management
  • Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  • Compares actual outcomes to forecasts and budgets. Makes or oversees any necessary adjustments.
  • Works with Department heads and stakeholders to develop annual departmental budgets.
  • Ensure all financial operations comply with federal and state laws.
  • Oversees annual audit and 990 filing,
  • Works with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.
  • Oversees investment of funds and works with investment bankers to raise additional capital required for expansion.
  • Forecast return on investment for current and future programs.
  • Track KPIs and analyze trends.
  • Manage payroll process
  • Manage financial requirements for grants
  • Develop and manage the financial requirements for capital campaign in conjunction with fundraising and construction management
  • Represent the organization to investors and public officials.
  • Oversees accounting functions, budget preparation, and audit functions.
Organizational improvements
  • Reviews finance processes and systems, makes recommendations, and implements changes.
  • Reviews planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
  • Studies long-range economic trends and projects their impact on future growth.
  • Identifies opportunities for expansion into new program areas.
  • Works with other department heads to monitor each department and make recommendations.
Leadership
  • Manages a small team of finance and gifts processing professionals.
  • May oversee human resources staff and compensation/benefits packages
  • May manage IT contractors and staff

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient in database and accounting and financial computer application systems (ex. NetSuite).

Education and Experience:

Requirements
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance-or equivalent experience--required.
  • Eight to ten years of experience in financial management required.
Preferred
  • Non-profit experience preferred
