Job Summary: The Chief Financial Officer will direct and oversee the financial activities of the company, to ensure its financial health and stability. The CFO will direct the preparation of current financial reports and summaries and create forecasts predicting future growth. This role will also involve budgeting, accounting, and management of team leads. The CFO will provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team and work closely with other departments to support the company's growth and profitability.
Supervisory Responsibilities:Oversees Finance department, budget preparation, and audit functions.This position is directly responsible for leading managers of the division and indirectly responsible for all team members within the division.Works with other department heads to monitor each department and make recommendations.Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy Development:
Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies aligned with the company's business goals and objectives.Works with the Founders and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.Provide strategic recommendations to the Founders and executive team based on financial analysis and projections.Studies long range economic trends and projects their impact on future growth in sales and market share.Identify and evaluate new financial opportunities and risks.Financial Planning and Analysis:
Lead the financial planning and analysis process, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.Analyze financial data to provide insights into business performance and support decision making, as it relates to areas in need of reorganization, downsizing, or elimination.Prepare and present financial reports to the executive team and board of directors.Accounting and Compliance:
Oversee the accounting function to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards, including GAAP or IFRS.Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with auditors and regulatory agencies.Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.Cash Flow and Asset Management:
Monitor and manage the company's cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations and growth.Oversee the management of company assets, including investments and capital expenditures.Develop and implement strategies to optimize working capital and financial resources.Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate financial risks to the company, including market, credit, and operational risks.Develop and implement risk management strategies and policies.Ensure adequate insurance coverage for the company's assets and liabilities.Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and manage the finance and accounting teams, fostering a high-performance culture.Mentor and develop team members to build a strong and capable finance organization.Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment.Collaboration and Integration:
Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment between financial strategies and overall business strategies.Work closely with sales, marketing, operations, and HR teams to support organizational goals.Provide financial insights and support for strategic initiatives and projects.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.Proven experience as a Chief Financial Officer, VP of Finance, or similar role in a high growth company.Eight to ten years of experience in financial management required, with high-level knowledge of the financial services industry, FMO industry, and life insurance industry.Strong understanding of financial principles and practices, including financial planning, analysis, accounting, and risk management.Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems.Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.Competencies:
