A small but growing manufacturer in East LA is looking for a Controller to add to their team. The Controller will be responsible for managing daily financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, overseeing budgeting and forecasting, and supporting strategic decision-making by providing critical insights into financial performance. To be successful in this role, the Controller should have a strong inventory background, be able to work in a fast-paced business, be very hands on in close, have strong people management skills, and ideally should be bilingual. What do you need for this Controller role?
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
• 20+ years of accounting and finance experience
• Must have people management experience
• Must have manufacturing industry experience
• Bilingual in Spanish highly highly preferred
• Advanced Excel
What will you do in this Controller role?
• Oversee and manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of financial reports in compliance with GAAP.
• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and adjustments.
• Prepare variance analysis and key performance metrics to monitor business health and performance.
• Provide insights on cost-saving opportunities and areas to improve profitability.
• Manage cost accounting processes, including standard cost updates and variance analysis.
• Oversee inventory accounting, ensuring accurate valuation and reconciliation with physical inventory.
• Analyze product costs, margins, and profitability by SKU to support pricing and operational decisions.
• Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure adequate funding for operations, capital expenditures, and debt obligations.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions to optimize cash conversion cycles.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant tax and regulatory requirements, including state and federal filings.
• Implement, document, and enforce internal controls to protect company assets and ensure data accuracy.
• Lead external audits and coordinate with external auditors, as needed.
• Evaluate and improve financial and accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
