Position Overview:

Are you ready to take on a dynamic and impactful role? As a Project Procurement Professional, you will be at the heart of our critical infrastructure projects, driving innovation and excellence. This role involves leading procurement efforts, planning, executing, controlling, and closing out activities for assigned projects with precision and passion.

You will steer complex projects to success, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, time, and cost. By developing a resilient Supply Base, you will achieve the Best Total Cost of Ownership for our business, ensuring world-class service for our CS customers.

In this exciting role, you will collaborate closely with Engineering to reverse engineer and source essential parts, working on innovative solutions. Your collaboration will extend to colleagues in sales, operations, finance, and procurement peers, both locally and globally.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Integrate Procurement in the project management process (PM[redacted]) and organizes, controls, and monitors all Procurement activities in a project.
  • Led and delivery second sourcing solution, in conjunction with your Engineering partners.
  • Review and monitor the sales pipeline. Meet with cross-functional partners and participate in project/sales meetings to provide procurement market information at an early stage, optimizing supplier selection. Participate in project/sales meetings as project core team member to exert a shaping influence at an early stage.
  • Establishing material budgets and monitoring costs through project execution phase.
  • Analyze customer inquiries during bid preparation / opportunity management phases and exactly understands the customer's functional needs in order to include (supplier) innovations.
  • Manage the total Purchasing Volume (PVO) in US-CS for our customer specific Categories.
  • Ultimate ownership over supplier management in commercial issues, supplier qualification, development, and overall relationship management for customer specific Categories.
  • Clearly define the supply chain. Creating and maintaining project procurement plans, assuring superior supply chain execution throughout the entire project, documenting and communicating the supply chain strategy to cross-functional project teams.
  • Complete Category Road Maps, providing long term strategies, for strategic customer specific Commodities.
  • Negotiate Master Procurement Agreements, including pricing, terms & conditions, payment terms in alignment with the wider Siemens community for customer specific Categories.
  • Develop new suppliers to support uncommon / nonstandard project needs. Target the geographic areas close to our customers and the trains that we are supporting.
  • Understanding the scope of supply and customer contract agreements, performing risk analysis and preparing for negotiations with suppliers and identifying supply chain risks and monitoring the supply chain during project execution to avoid potential issues/risks.
  • Analyze project scope of supply, contractual obligations and end customer's functional needs. Identify particular procurement risks, opportunities, potential changes, claims and market forces during the entire project, together with Commodity Management, to avoid potential damage and to exploit savings potential.
  • Ensure that mitigation of procurement risks, changes to original scope of supply and potential claims (towards customers and suppliers) are covered in valid contracts with suppliers. Ensure that required customer contractual obligations are fulfilled by supplier and covered in a way that mitigates Siemens' risk exposure.
  • Clarify internal indicators for project controlling and compile all relevant information to submit qualified reports. Proactively ensure resources availability, status, transparency and alerting of deviations.


To thrive in this role, you have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of Supply Chain & Project experience
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills and ability to negotiate with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in project scheduling
  • Demonstrated broad supply chain knowledge
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
  • Demonstrated solid communication and listening skills
  • Dedication & excitement about joining a fast moving & growing business.
  • Ability to work with EU time zones
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with German and EU suppliers
  • Ability to travel 10-25%
  • Setting you apart from others would be a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with PM[redacted] knowledge and experience and fluency in German. Experience with SAP would be a plus.

The base salary range for this position in Lexington NC is $73,200-$98,900. The actual salary/wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
