This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

Why is this role important?

In this role, you are expected to work with a dedicated team of people from across Canada to design interfaces that simplify the process of living the best CBC/Radio-Canada's OTT (over-the-top) video streaming services experience. You are required to continuously improve the user experience on mobile, desktop and connected TV's audience-facing interfaces, ensuring that people within Canada can quickly find and enjoy the best programming available on the English-language CBC Gem and the French-language ICI TOU.TV. Your designs must be user-centric and iteratively refined based on the audience's feedback, business needs and technological contexts, to ensure the growth and engagement of the audience in the product.

Role Expectations:

Collaborate and Experiment: This role requires close collaboration with the ux design and research teams, product and technical leads, as well as programming teams. To ensure alignment and accountability

Balance Requirements: Balance editorial, content, and commercial requirements - including authentication, monetization and subscription strategy - with human-centred principles and practices.

Foster a Learning Culture: Socialize design patterns, facilitate co-creation, and foster a learning culture.

Data-Driven Decisions: Examine choices and decisions through the lens of data and evidence.

Maintain Standards: Develop and maintain design system libraries and standards that contribute to quality and cohesion.

Accessibility: Advocate for accessible, ethical, inclusive, and cooperative practices and designs.

Champion Collaboration: Champion collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.

Public Service Mandate: Invest in our public service mandate to inform, enlighten, and entertain.

Design and Test: Design, prototype, and test accessible apps, websites, and other digital platforms such as smart TVs.

Research and Analysis: Works closely with the ux researcher to interpret quantitative and qualitative data from user research, usability testing, and workshop facilitation.

Evidence-Based Design: Document, communicate, and present evidence-based design work that supports business objectives and product strategy.

Plan and Prioritize: Estimate, plan, and prioritize work.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • Applied digital product design experience and a portfolio of work
  • Degree in a digital product design-related field, or equivalent work experience


We prefer candidates who have:
  • Experience designing for streaming video platforms, or equivalent services
  • Experience working with third-party services
  • Created complex design systems
  • An ability to communicate clearly in English in bilingual teams. (French language is an asset but not essential)

You have:
  • Bachelor's degree (BAC) in interface design, graphic design, graphic communication, multimedia design, or equivalent


Others:
  • Excellent knowledge of user experience and content architecture (UX)
  • Excellent knowledge of interface design (UI)
  • Knowledge of Figma, Sketch and the Adobe suite
  • Knowledge of HTML and/or native app technical specifications is an asset
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility rules an asset
  • Good knowledge of the media market, particularly in a digital context
  • Knowledge of spoken and written English is mandatory; knowledge of spoken and written French is an asset.


The presentation of a digital portfolio is mandatory.
