Position: ControllerClient Overview: Our client, a premier gourmet grocery store, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Controller who thrives in a dynamic retail environment. This role will serve as a strategic business partner, managing and enhancing an already successful operation.Key Responsibilities:Operational Management:Ensure the accuracy of all General Ledger financial accounting and perform associated account reconciliations.Oversee the timely and efficient monthly accounting close process, including a thorough review of journal entries and operating results.Lead the annual financial statement audit process, preparing all necessary documentation.Identify and implement process enhancements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting functions.Optimize the use of relevant software within the accounting department and ensure seamless integration into processes.Prepare year-to-date cash flow analyses and projections to effectively manage cash balances.Supervise accounts payable operations, ensuring accuracy in vendor statements and payments.Oversee IT department activities, ensuring all IT requirements are met.Perform additional duties as needed.Financial Reporting:Develop and enhance financial reporting platforms, ensuring all related reporting requirements are met.Assist in the preparation and completion of the annual budget and update forecasts to provide accurate projections of financial performance.Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial management reports, including variance analysis.Undertake ad-hoc reporting and analysis as assigned.Culture and Development:Foster relationships with colleagues, becoming a trusted leader in finance and accounting matters.Coach and guide staff to ensure fair treatment and compliance with financial practices.Mediate employee relations and performance issues, providing counsel on effective performance management.Serve as a role model for the company’s core values, demonstrating consistent leadership across the organization.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; a Master’s degree is a plus.CPA certification preferred.At least seven years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including four years in a managerial role.Proven track record in building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.Passionate about the company’s mission and dedicated to overcoming organizational challenges.Core Competencies:Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail.Strong verbal and written communication abilities.Excellent interpersonal skills.Effective time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.High work ethic and a commitment to quality.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Proven supervisory and leadership capabilities.Adaptability to meet the needs of the organization and its employees.Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills essential.Compensation and Work Environment:Salary: $140,000 - $180,000 per year.Work Schedule: 5 days on-site in the East Side of NYC.New York, NY, USOn-SiteOctober 17th, 2024Retail Vaco$ 140000.00 - 180000.00 yearly direct hire
