Medical Geneticist Physician

Henry Ford Health, Detroit, MI, United States

The Division of Medical Genetics at Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) has an active and well-integrated clinical genetics service which currently includes reproductive genetics and cancer genetics. The Division includes clinical genetics services and the maternal serum screening program which serves the health system and surrounding area. We expect growth in cancer genetics with the expansion of the Henry Ford Cancer Institute. With the implementation and expansion of the Henry Ford Precision Medicine Program, the Genetics Division will be part of systemwide initiatives to grow and emphasize the importance of genetics throughout clinical care. The ideal candidate will be excited to work on building and growing clinical genetic services for the health system.

HFHS has a Laboratory Genetics and Genomics postdoctoral training program. In addition, there are teaching opportunities for Wayne State University Genetics Residency/Fellowship trainees, genetic counselors, and rotating residents at Henry Ford. Basic science and clinic research opportunities are available. An academic appointment is available through the Wayne State University Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics. The Henry Ford Hospital Genetics Division works closely with the Pathology Department which includes molecular and cytogenetics laboratories. We support the Henry Ford Health System (www.henryford.com) and other hospitals and clinics throughout Southeast Michigan. HFHS is an equal opportunity employer.

Presently, we have one MD geneticist and six genetic counselors. We plan to expand the division by hiring additional genetic counselors and geneticists. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated candidate.
