Neonatologist - Level IV NICU - Academic Appointment

Job Summary

St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children is recruiting a full time BC/BE neonatologist to join our team. As part of a multi-disciplinary and clinically integrated team, you will provide care to the patients within our affiliated Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and help train neonatology fellows, pediatric residents, and medical students at our academic children’s hospital in Philadelphia, PA. 

 

What you can expect:

  • Work in a Level IV NICU with an average daily census of 25 babies. 
  • 2 Neonatologists are on during the day and work with neonatal nurse practitioners, fellows and pediatric residents. There is a multidisciplinary team, including a neonatal nutritionist and pharmacist, which provides a supportive environment to practice. 
  • The division has a strong commitment to quality improvement work and participates in the Children's Hospital Neonatal Consortium (CHNC). The CHNC improves care for high-risk infants by providing a platform to compare quality and outcomes across the highest-level NICUs.
  • We are also a member of the BPD Collaborative, which consists of 46 centers across the USA and five different international partners. These centers have dedicated multidisciplinary teams dedicated to the ongoing care of patients with BPD, and particularly the most severe forms of BPD.
  • This strong team-based approach focuses on providing the highest level of quality care and delivers excellent health outcomes that exceed the national average for critically ill newborns each year. 
  • Academic appointment with Drexel University College of Medicine, commensurate with experience.
  • Large sub-specialty network of physicians to support you and your patients
  • Opportunity to participate in research. Current areas of interest of our faculty include: immunology, inflammation and infectious disease, neurodevelopmental outcomes, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, and chronic lung disease. 
  • Provide neonatal Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) within the NICU
  • We have a robust Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship, with 9 fellows. We have an innovative training program, including simulation education, a point of care ultrasound (POCUS) curriculum and dedicated educational time for the fellows.
  • Family focused schedule that provides flexibility and prevent burn-out
  • Physicians will participate in the on-call program for the department   
  • Base Salary, paid time off, CME Allowance, paid malpractice and health insurance and 403B.
  • Non-profit Health System- eligible for Federal Student Loan Forgiveness
  • Position is eligible to sponsor H-1B visa candidates

  • Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification for Commonwealth of PA
