Job Summary

Phoenixville Neonatologist:

The Department of Neonatology at Tower Health is seeking a full-time Neonatologist for the NICU at Phoenixville Hospital.

 

The successful candidate will be one who has a proven record of dedication to patient care and experience with teaching.

The Neonatologist must also possess outstanding interpersonal skills and have a proven experience of work in a team focused environment. The Phoenixville Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a Level 2B unit and cares for infants who are born at 32 weeks gestation or greater. Phoenixville Hospital has over 1500 deliveries and the NICU has over 100 admissions each year. The NICU is staffed 24 hours a day by a team of 4 board-certified neonatologists and 1 neonatal nurse practitioner. The neonatologists also provide coverage of the Newborn Nursery. The unit’s registered nurses have an average of 10 years’ experience in neonatal intensive care. Our current group operates on a 24 hour shift schedule, with an experienced neonatal nurse practitioner in-house some nights to allow for beeper call from home, which affords a great work-life balance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to function in a Level II NICU
  • Comfortable managing babies with CPAP and ventilation support
  • Provide educational support to Residents
  • Provide family-centered care
  • Average Daily Census: 4-5 babies (NICU) and 15 (well newborn)
  • 8 - 24 hour shifts per 4 week schedule

Qualifications

  • An MD, DO, or foreign equivalent with active board certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics in both Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
  • 3+ years post training experience 
  • Academic credentials for a faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor is preferred.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the culture, needs, and aspirations of the community.
  • Ability to function in a team environment to support collaboration  
  • Demonstrated record of supporting patients in a Level II NICU as the primary physician 
  • Excellent verbal, written and group presentation skills.
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted medical license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to start date.
  • Unrestricted DEA certification
