About the Job:

FASHION Magazine is Canada's leading destination for style, beauty, and luxury. Our brand connects with a discerning audience through our print magazine, website, social media, and events. We are looking for a Head of Digital & Social to join our Toronto-based team of writers, editors, social producers, and data experts.

Working closely with the EIC and reporting to the Vice President, Content, you'll oversee our digital and social media strategy and manage and create content for our website, social video and newsletter while driving measurable audience growth.

You're a highly collaborative and creative thinker, with a keen understanding of social media trends, SEO and digital content best practices. You understand the power of a great hook or an ownable format as well as the importance of innovating and adapting content strategies based on data insights and audience feedback. You're interested and passionate about the worlds of fashion, beauty and pop-culture, and finding new ways to reach audiences through the power of digital storytelling. You're a team player who's also willing to take initiative and work independently. You take extreme ownership in order to improve both processes and content output. Most importantly, you're able to lead by example and inspire the rest of the content team to embrace a digital-first, innovative mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Content Strategy & Management:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies and content calendars that align with FASHION's brand voices and editorial goals.
  • Allocate and manage the digital content budget to maximize ROI and align with brand objectives.
  • Monitor social media trends and platform updates, ensuring content remains fresh and relevant.

2. SEO & Digital Optimization:
  • Use SEO tools to optimize content for search visibility and performance.
  • Collaborate with audience and data teams to refine strategies based on insights and best practices.
  • Lead digital production and site management, working closely with key stakeholders.

3. Content Creation & Social Media Production:
  • Oversee daily posting and scheduling across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X (Twitter), Pinterest, and YouTube.
  • Ideate, produce, and edit content across digital, social, video, and audio platforms, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Produce engaging video content for TikTok and Instagram Reels, leveraging platform-specific trends and features.
  • Able to be on-camera when required, representing FASHION at events and in social content.
  • Utilize assets like runway images and original photoshoots to create engaging social media content.
  • Work with SJC's creative team to develop social-first videos that capture attention and drive growth.
  • Engage with our online community, responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely, brand-consistent manner.
  • Work closely with the FASHION team to identify and collaborate with influencers, celebrities, and partners to amplify reach and impact.

4. Leadership & Team Management:
  • Lead and mentor a social media producer, supporting their development and ensuring alignment across both brands.

5. Analytics & Reporting:
  • Track and analyze social media performance using analytics tools. Set targets and grow KPIs for optimal engagement, reach, and growth.
  • Prepare regular reports on social media activities, trends, and growth, sharing insights with senior management and the team.

6. Brand Representation & Events:
  • Represent FASHION Magazine at industry events, building key relationships in fashion, beauty, and entertainment.
  • Attend press trips to create real-time and post-event content opportunities.
  • Occasionally contribute to FASHION's print magazine and newsletters.
  • Lead digital and social updates in weekly team meetings and participate in brainstorming sessions.

7. Additional Duties:
  • Some evening and weekend work is required as part of this position.
  • Possible support of Hello! Canada's social media.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in social media management, content production, or digital marketing, preferably in media or entertainment.
  • Proven experience creating and editing video content for social platforms, particularly TikTok and Instagram Reels.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, algorithms, and best practices, along with analytics and publishing tools.
  • Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar.
  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • In-depth knowledge and passion for fashion, beauty, and pop culture.
  • Familiarity with content management systems and newsletter platforms (e.g., Sailthru, Campaign Monitor).
  • Excellent communication, time management, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Nice to Have:
  • Knowledge of SEO and content optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with influencer marketing and collaboration strategies.
