Senior Materials Engineer - structural materials

What you will be doing:
- Performing failure analysis
- Engineering and inspection reviews
- Assisting with mechanical integrity audits
- Performing fitness-for-service life assessments
- Conducting risk evaluations
- Participating in on-site accident and incident investigations of industrial locations
- Initiating promotional activities
- Overseeing and performing laboratory testing, as needed
- Conducting research and development
- Writing and presenting findings from investigations
- Providing legal and consulting services, as needed
- At least a bachelor's degree in materials, metallurgical, or mechanical engineering. A master's degree or PhD would be preferred.
- Registered as a professional engineer
- 6 to 12 years of experience in establishing mechanical integrity controls, performing failure analysis, life assessments, and incident investigations
- Good verbal and written communication skills for interactions with technical personnel, government agencies, and managers
- Experience establishing mechanical integrity and inspection programs
- Experience working with various structural materials and an understanding of basic failure mechanisms and fracture behavior
- Familiarity with standard metallurgical lab equipment, polishing practices, optical and scanning electron microscopes, material testing, and inspection techniques
- Experience working with various metal alloy systems, polymeric materials, and coatings
- Experience working with industrial equipment including piping, pressure vessels, and rotating and fixed equipment
