WSP is currently initiating a search for a Drainage Engineer for our Chicago, IL office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Undertake surface water drainage and cross drainage design for some of the biggest projects in the region.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic studies and design using hydrologic and hydraulic software.
- Prepare documents including drainage reports, plans, permits, specifications, construction cost estimates and presentations.
- Actively participate in multi-disciplinary design team processes, support projects by attending meetings and interacting with clients, agency officials, and contractors.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university; a focus on Water Resources is considered an asset;
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in highway drainage design and hydraulics engineering.
- Work-related experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling used in the design of roadway drainage including detention facilities, bridge and culvert stream crossings, ancillary drainage items such as scour protection and water quality control.
- Familiarity with state and local stormwater regulations in greater Chicagoland area.
- Working knowledge in: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY8, XPSWMM, StormCAD or similar H&H programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Experience in using MicroStation, GEOPAK or Open Roads Designer
- Experience in IDOT, Tollway, CDOT or local road projects
- Experience obtaining permits related to drainage
- Affiliation with professional societies is highly desirable
- Strong written and oral communications skills are required.
- Authorization to immediately work in the United States.
