Award-Winning Architecture + Interiors Studio based in San Francisco is seeking an Interior Director to lead the Interiors Department!
Winner of the American Prize of Architecture, this 30+ person studio passionately dedicates itself to the renewal of beauty in architecture; project types include adaptive reuse, residential, mixed-use, workplace, biotech, civic (including music halls), sports, and master planning. Founded in the late 90s, the CEO has been featured as one of Silicon Valley's most distinguished start-up founders in the field of architecture. This 30+ person studio has recently been working with clients such as Netflix, Amazon & Facebook in the Bay Area.
The Interior Director is responsible for leading the interior design efforts for the firms' workplace market sector. The successful candidate will lead, support, manage, and develop the existing & future Interior Design Team and participate in firmwide strategic planning with a focus on Interior Design growth potential.

Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will lead the company's growing interior design department.
- They will use their skills and experience, as well as other company resources to define the needs of their clients, develop client relationships, develop strategy and design solutions ranging from studies and reports, to concept designs to complete documented design solutions.
- The Interior Director will collaborate with the studio's Directors & Principals to support the development of strategy & design solutions for the interiors practice.
- The Interior Director will be responsible for nurturing and growing the interiors department to design projects, service clients, support project teams as well as seek out new workplace interiors focused projects.
- The Interior Director will support the company's efforts in business development and marketing and demonstrate their design skills and workplace interiors expertise in the direct support of clients and their projects.
- Lead the work of other designers to produce quality design solutions.
- Oversee / drive space planning (FF&E efforts as-needed).
- Oversee / drive Interior architectural development.
- Oversee / drive selection of Interior Building products, materials, and finishes.
- Oversee / drive the implementation of interior design concepts into the technical documents.
- Generate new intellectual content for best practices and planning solutions.
- Represent the firm at Industry Events as requested.
- Lead the Interior Design RFQ / RFP Process.
- Participate in Project Interviews; Lead, prepare and deliver interior design presentations to Clients.
- In collaboration with the Architectural team, translate a project's complex parameters into clear and comprehensive interior design solutions which are cohesive with the overall architectural aesthetic.
Qualifications
- 12 -15+ years of interior design industry experience, preferably in Workplace Design.
- Embodies high standards for design excellence.
- Strong leadership skills to lead an interior design team & facilitate building a practice (e.g. Ability to formulate vision for the practice, rally team around your vision, execute a plan, demonstrate strong communication skills).
- Team and practice management skills to lead, inspire designers, nurture the skillset, and grow the interior design department.
- Business development experience preferred.
- Strong presentation skills (in-person and virtual).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative, enthusiastic, eager, and entrepreneurial spirit.
- Professional degree in Interior Architecture or Architecture / LEED accreditation preferred.
