POSITION SUMMARY Production Line Leader reports directly to the Team Leader assigned to his/her line/area. Responsible for coordination of people and machinery to ensure the physical plant, equipment and production lines are maintained in proper sanitary condition to meet the daily goals of Production and the overall goals of a Food Manufacturing facility. Leadership and guidance in the principles of Nestlé Continuous Excellence to all department associates is expected. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Safety/Health/Environmental Evaluate associates in the work area to ensure at-risk conditions are mitigated or removed and the team's safety behaviors. Ensure compliance with all Nestle and Regulatory Safety guidelines. Mentor this through actions and developing a culture of Friends Helping Friends. Ensure 100% personal and team adherence to the Life Saving Rules including chemical PPE adherence, working at heights, machine intervention (Modes of Access/Intervention - LOTOTO), area organization. Committed to modeling and teaching the Nestlé Safety Leadership Behaviors at the Everyone and Leader level – especially Be Mindful/Promote Risk Awareness, Follow the Rules/Ensure Compliance and Speak Up/Encourage the Team. Commitment to a risk prediction mindset and risk-based thinking. This includes daily team communication about safety risks in pre-shift huddles and throughout the day, using the risk prediction forms to facilitate conversations and alignment when non-routine tasks or events change our normal operating procedures. Make sure we have the right tools, resources, and expertise to complete each task safely. When you do not have these in place, Speak Up and include more people to help you with an alternative safe method and plan. Quality Must be committed to producing safe and high-quality products to protect our consumers. Full understanding and implementation of the line's HACCP and Quality Management Standard plans. Monitor throughout day. Full understanding and implementation of critical Good Manufacturing Practices & Quality practices in their area. Ownership of Assigned Production Line. Collaborates with other leads and supervisors to ensure team is properly scheduled/staffed to successfully staff the production shift. Completes Line Lead daily, weekly, and monthly routine checklist. Motivating team on achieving hourly and daily goals with the diligence of standard routines. Monitor and own key line metrics such as (but not limited to): Start-up and shutdown activities, Process controls, weight control practices and yields, material variances, consumptions and reversals, and wash downs. Attend and actively participate in, Shift Handoff, Operational Reviews and drive Continuous Improvement in the Factory. Effective Leadership, utilizing hard and soft skills to foster team development of set goals and metrics. Actively coach and develop back-up leads. Capability to lead and coach Integrated Work Groups. Ensures that all operators and associates on the line understands the full scope of their jobs. Gives recognition to the team as well as individual contributors. Act as a liaison to remove barriers and as a mentor to drive ownership and accountability toward business and team goals. Work with direct supervisor to participate in the disciplinary process for associates. Knowledgeable of their respective production line, effective problem solving, and appropriate business partnership with Training, ME, and other departments. Strong, supportive relationship with Shift Supervisor. Have a personal knowledge base for all products that run on the respective line and operator roles. Ability to provide on the job training to operators and update standards as needed. Understand problem solving techniques and collaborate with management, quality, engineering, maintenance, production, and outside vendors on finding resolutions. Drive autonomy in their team by helping them understand losses and linked systems and train team members on TPM systems and tools in a practical way. Works consistently with Training Dept. to address the needs of the line. Monitor and Coach to their team’s knowledge and compliance to all activities, including OJT and training competency. Help develop technical training for integrated workgroups and machine centers. Perform other duties as assigned. SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS 2-3 Years Manufacturing Experience; Food & Beverage preferred. Production Lead experience preferred. Strong interpersonal/communication skills, ability to coach and work with individuals and small teams. Ability to understand and apply documents, instructions, manuals. Ability to send routine reports and emails. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask. Computer skills (SAP, DMO, Poka, Excel, Word, and Outlook). Ability to work different days as assigned, including overtime and weekends.
