The duties of this role will include the following:
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including balance sheet, income statement/profit and loss statement, accounts receivable and accounts payable aging, and cash flow projections.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other relevant standards.
- Coordinate audits (internal and external) and manage regulatory filings.
Managing Accounting Operations:
- Oversee and conduct accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.
- Prepare and submit AIA billings.
- Create and document lien waivers and affidavits.
- Negotiate credit and payment terms with vendors.
- Manage the general ledger and ensure all transactions are properly recorded in provided accounting software.
- Reconcile bank statements regularly.
- Have oversight of payroll processing and ensure timely payment of taxes.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor overall company budget performance and provide variance analyses.
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure adherence to budgets including project managers and estimators to ensure accuracy of job budgets, job financial statements and WIP reports.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to improve financial operational efficiency.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
Tax Compliance & Coordination:
- Ensure timely filing of corporate taxes and other regulatory reports.
- Coordinate with CPA and external tax advisors to prepare required documents and year-end tax reports.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff as accounting department grows.
- Assign tasks, set performance goals, and conduct evaluations.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., HR, Operations, Project Managers) to support company financial objectives.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of related experience in construction accounting
- Advanced user of Excel and Microsoft products
- Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
- Experience with QuickBooks and current computer accounting programs and reporting tools
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Construction Accounting Certification(s)
- CPA license
- Working knowledge of BlueBeam software
- Experience with construction project management software such as Procore, BuildOps, etc.
