We are looking to add a physician to our neurology team at our Huntington VA Medical Center. We are seeking a highly motivated BE/BC Neurologist, with an unrestricted MD / DO medical license, who shares our commitment to providing excellent care to our US Veterans.

The Hershel Woody Williams Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Huntington, W. Va. is a fully accredited 80-bed acute medical and surgical care facility providing primary care and specialty health services, including radiology, mental health services, womens health care, prosthetics, bariatric surgery, pain management, palliative care, neurology, sleep medicine and more.

Major Duties / Responsibilities

  • Provides neurologic evaluation and treatment of Veterans on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.
  • Responsible for diagnosis and management of patients suffering from a variety of neurological disorders, such as headache disorders, seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, or Alzheimer's disease.
  • Interprets EEG's, Evoked Potential Studies and performs EMG's
  • Perform the usual administrative components of patient care management, such as: timely documentation of progress notes, orders and consultation findings in electronic medical record, dictation, and electronic signature of procedural reports.
  • Participates in and/or manages all aspects of a general neurology program

    • Academic - including the supervision of Neurology residents
    • Research components if desired
  • Manage patient workload within available staffing, which may include nurses / nurse practitioners / physician assistants.
  • Participates in the expanded use of clinical video telehealth / electronic consultation (e-Consult) to improve access to neurology care.
  • The Neurologist ensures quality and timely services, provides customer satisfaction, as well as compliance with governing bodies such as JCAHO.
  • Collaborates with other VA physician services as appropriate.

Compensation / Benefits:

  • Excellent compensation - Great base salary, based on qualifications, with annual performance pay, biennial market pay raises & annual cost of living pay raises

  • Contract:  No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting
