Parking and Transportation is seeking full-time Special Events Assistant Manager.

MR-09 starting at $44,900

The Parking and Transportation Special Events program is highly visible and has a significant impact on the University community, departments/units, and external customers visiting the campus to attend events.

The Special Events Assistant Manager supports the Parking & Transportations special events parking program. This position is extremely unique at the University and requires strong skills in managing multiple priorities, making decisions, oftentimes instantaneously, regarding complex issues, and maintaining a work schedule to ensure proper oversight of parking and transit activities for hundreds of annual special campus events many of which occur weekends, evenings and holidays.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting with hiring and training of Event personnel, planning/organizing parking needs for events, as well as field supervision. This position coordinates and collaborates with internal and external event planners/organizers, law enforcement personnel, event supervisors, transportation staff and others.

Education:

High School Diploma required. Completion of some college coursework and/or relevant training preferred.

Experience:

Three years of full- or part-time experience in events management. One year of supervisory experience in a full-time capacity.

Job Skills: Effective oral and written communications skills; ability to effectively plan and organize; high level of customer service skills; proven ability to follow policies and procedures; ability to act independently; proven ability to comply with fiscal procedures; ability to interact effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups; and ability to maintain consistent professional behavior and demeanor particularly in demanding and intense situations which often exist during special events. A valid Tennessee Driver's License is required.
