The Visiting Therapist Program (VTP) began providing mental health services in 2004 to dependent children who have had difficulty utilizing traditional office-based or clinic-based services. In 2005, the VTP was expanded to a new participant base, youth in the juvenile probation system and their families. The program was designed to reach participants in their place of residence, and to maintain continuity of services and provide a stable, therapeutic relationship, despite any placement disruptions.

Clinicians provide services throughout Alameda County and may sometimes travel as far as 90 miles from the Fred Finch Coolidge Campus in Oakland in order to treat their participants. The majority of participants are served in the Bay Area, the most common locations being the East and South Bay.

What You Will Do

The Clinician is responsible for providing high quality, trauma-informed therapeutic services and care coordination to a diverse population of at-risk youth or young adults experiencing mental health symptoms, and their families. These developmentally appropriate, individualized services occur in residential and community locations including homes, schools, program offices, psychiatric emergency settings, clinics, crisis residential programs, and/or shelters.

We are seeking Spanish speaking candidates for this role.

Shifts Available
Full Time - afternoon and evenings required. Work remotely with clinical services provided in the community, office and telehealth settings.

Salary RangeIn accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this California position is between $33.03 and $42.15 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

What You Bring to The Table (requirements):

1. M.A. Degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited college or university.

2. Registered associate (AMFT or ACSW, or APCC with relevant experience with target population) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Some programs may consider candidates who are able to obtain registered status within first six (6) months after hire. (If working in a program licensed by Community Care Licensing must meet minimum training and experience requirements - for more information please see http://www.cdss.ca.gov/cdssweb/entres/pdf/CCR/STRTP_ILS.pdf )

3. Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of diagnostic assessment, individual/family/group behavioral treatment methods for target population of program.

4. Demonstrated knowledge of risk assessment, including danger to self or others, and effective community-based interventions.

5. Demonstrated cultural responsiveness in working with diverse families and communities.

6. Clean driving record: current CA Driver's License or ability to obtain within 10 days after hired.

7. Must have access to dependable transportation; personal car insurance meeting minimum liability coverage required if position requires driving for work or transporting participants.

8. Basic computer and keyboarding competence with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and/or competency with electronic clinical documentation systems.

Preferred

1. One (1) year graduate school or post graduate experience with program target population (Example: intellectually disabled, homeless, teens or young adults, seriously emotionally disturbed).

2. Applies a strength-based, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and flexible approach to supervision, participant and community service, in order to support participant recovery, health, and wellness.

3. Exhibits strong behavioral, crisis management and family/individual/group therapy skills.

4. Fluency in prevailing language(s) of the community.
