DeLaval a global supplier of formulated sanitizers and topical disinfectants and detergents is seeking a Chemist II to support our development of cleaners and sanitizers for dairy farm and food processing industries. DeLaval is developing products for global market and offers opportunities to interact with people worldwide.

BASIC FUNCTION

The Chemist II, reporting to the Senior Research Scientist, assists in the development of new and improved products, and helps develop analytical methods. The candidate filling this position will work in projects from concept to commercialization. Specifically will support product innovation through formulation, chemical properties testing, in vitro application testing and field trials.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct formulation work for new product development and improve current products.
  • Conduct routine physical and chemical stability tests for assigned projects.
  • Carry out maintenance, for laboratory equipment.
  • Provide technical support to the manufacturing sites for new and existing formulations.
  • Develop and validate new analytical test methods.
  • Testing and analysis of new raw material.
  • Offer technical support for current products.
  • Prepare written test reports, public presentations and posters.
  • Work with regulatory on global product registration.
  • Maintain documentation, write and update laboratory notebook.
  • Updating of laboratory SOP and analytical methods.
REQUIRED SKILLS / COMPETENCIES
  • Motivated self-starter who can work independently, yet function and participate as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail. Ability to accurately document results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, specifically technical writing.
  • Some national and international travel required( ,10%)
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs.
EXPERIENCE / BACKGROUND
  • Bachelor of science in Chemistry with 3-5 years of chemical laboratory experience required.
  • Experience in formulation development and testing related to antimicrobial, sanitizing, disinfecting or cleaning products preferred.
  • Proficiency on basic analytical and application testing procedures.Working expertise with instrumentation such as UV/VIS spectrophotometer, HLPC, Viscometer, Autotitrator, Balances, pH meters preferred.
  • Understanding of lab safety and the ability to work safely with chemical required.
