SHIFTNo Shift ($0) (United States of America) A BRIEF OVERVIEW The Indirect Commodity Manager is responsible for managing the strategic activities of the assigned commodities for Orchid and developing sourcing strategies to facilitate the accomplishment of company goals. They are also responsible for driving improvement around purchase order governance, identifying and executing savings initiatives, developing, implementing, and maintaining supplier performance initiatives to improve supplier support of Operations. This role will have primary ownership and responsibility for the identification, final selection, and qualification of suppliers, on time delivery issues, and total cost performance. The position is expected to be an organizational expert on assigned commodities and procurement processes capable of providing mentoring/training to all manufacturing site organizations and procurement teams. The Indirect Commodity Manager reports to the Director, Sourcing. This role is remote with some on-site visits as needed. WHAT YOU WILL DO Studies market trends, interviews vendors, and recommends sources of supply Analyzes quotations received, selects or recommends suppliers, and schedules deliveries. Develops and maintains necessary records and files for efficient operation Develop and lead implementation of an Orchid commodity strategy for assigned commodities Lead the improvement and maintenance of purchase order governance and establish desired purchase order structure (Discrete PO vs Blanket PO vs VMI) Identify, select, and qualify suppliers required to meet global business needs Supplier Performance - establish Pis, on-time delivery improvements, and QA Drive annual cost savings initiatives across the organization Negotiates cash discounts, volume purchasing discounts, and OEM pricing, etc. Negotiates and implements purchase contracts that comply with company standards. Rationalize/Consolidate Supply Base in accordance with established commodity strategy Mentor and train site organizations, especially procurement and operations professionals. Identify, develop and implement CIPs (Cost Improvement Projects) and PPV (Purchase Price Variance) opportunities in order to meet annual variance goals Advocates for the health and safety of self, co-workers, customers, and the community. This job operates in a manufacturing environment when on-site. When on-site, this role routinely moves about the facility to check-up on team members' progress and frequently operates a computer as required. Ability to work flexible work schedule as required to meet the demands of the business. Travel is required.
