COGS has partnered with, multi national, multi billion dollar revenue wholesale building material company who are looking for a Senior ESG Manager to join their team. Due to increased market demand, they are in growth mode and expanding! As a result they have introduced a new and exciting position for the Senior ESG Manager.

As the Senior Manager, ESG Controller, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing our sustainability data reporting strategy and associated controls. This position will ensure adherence to key regulatory frameworks, such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations, and California's climate disclosure requirements.

The job is based hybrid in Boston, MA with salary up to 170K + 20% Bonus

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sustainability, Legal, HR, Finance, etc.) to ensure compliance with ESG reporting standards like CSRD, SEC, GRI, SASB, and TCFD.
  • Contribute to ESG disclosures in SEC filings (e.g., Annual Reports, Form 10-K/Q, Proxy Statements).
  • Support sustainability initiatives by developing and maintaining systems for ESG data collection, verification, and analysis.
  • Ensure robust systems for ESG data reporting, maintaining data integrity for external reporting and audits.
  • Work with teams across the organization to validate, analyze, and ensure the accuracy of ESG data, including GHG emissions, following industry standards.
  • Establish a structure for third-party assurance of ESG data and manage relationships with external auditors.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to integrate external assurance requirements into SEC reporting.
  • Stay updated on ESG regulations and provide strategic recommendations to leadership.
  • Train corporate teams on ESG data assurance and reporting practices.
  • Manage project timelines for ESG reporting, driving process improvements.
  • Support strategic initiatives like GHG emissions targets, monitoring KPIs, and advising leadership on sustainability performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration (or equivalent) required.
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in public accounting and 2 years in ESG reporting.
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, ESG regulations, reporting frameworks, and SEC, CSRD rules.
