Job Description

The Senior Manager of Business Development is responsible for developing and closing contracted work with designated clients. This position identifies and pursues contracting opportunities through multiple mechanisms including direct client interactions about emerging client needs, publicly advertised procurements, and opportunities through various teaming partners. The Senior Business Development Manager serves as a primary ABS liaison with key agency contacts, teaming partners, and various professional/industry associations. This role coordinates activities relating to the execution of contracted projects.

What You Will Do:
  • Serve as a Primary ABS Consulting Liaison with client contacts, teaming partners, and various professional/industry associations
  • Be responsible for development of contract opportunities, reporting directly to a VP of Business Development.
  • Provide coordination and client engagement support for the execution of contracted work with ABS project managers
  • Lead proposal development and business capture teams as directed by leadership of Business Development
  • Coordinate business development capture efforts with the broader ABS Consulting organization, especially around development of scopes of work, project work and staffing plans, and budgets, including required Delegation of Authority approvals for proposals.
  • Develop and maintain overall strategic business development plans for maximizing contracted sales and achieving specific sales targets
  • Collect, collate, analyze and disseminate business intelligence information to a VP of Business Development as required.
  • Work closely with ABS Consulting business/contracts managers on proposal pricing and contract terms review and approval with ABS Consulting Legal.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical area of study (STEM) is required.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or Technical field is preferred.
  • At least 12 years relevant experience, with a minimum of 5 years working directly with client organizations to secure contracted work
  • Must have experience selling technical consulting services

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Building network connections with executive leaders in government and industry.
  • Understanding of how contract opportunities are solicited by the clients
  • Working knowledge of ITAR, FAR, EAR and similar regulations as they relate to job function.
  • Excellent ability to communicate orally and in writing, complex and unique technical issues, as well as present them to clients and at public forums.
  • The ability to identify, analyze and solve complex and unique programmatic issues.
  • Strong familiarization with MS Office software, in particular Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Working knowledge of the ABS Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety Management System.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports directly to Vice President of Business Development, strategic partnerships.
