OTC Derivatives Business Analyst

Project description
Reporting to the Director, Business Intelligence, Performance Systems and Analytics, this position will be responsible for a broad range of activities affecting all groups within the Investment Reporting, Data Governance & Valuations. This will require an understanding of Investment Products & Strategies, Investment Reporting, Processes, as well as Data Structures & Business and IT Architecture. The individual will have considerable interaction with various departments and will be focused on cross-functional report building, systems configuration/maintenance/optimization and the data migration project as it relates to our processes.
Responsibilities
What you will do:
Develop a deep understanding of the Portfolio and Deal Structures including all of the securities that make up those strategies
Involved in the configuration, maintenance, and upgrades for P&L systems, and related source systems. Provide support for the projects related to said systems.
Contribute to the decisions related to Data Architecture to make sure the future state supports the need of the team and its clients
Build cross-functional reports using a range of reporting tools and technologies like Qlikview/QlikSense, Python, Snowflake, Excel, Power BI, SAP Hana. Act as a SME resource for BI tools used by the team
Analyze, monitor and confirm the methodologies and the accuracy of the calculations impacting reports developed and/or supported by the team,
Manage the implementation of new, cross-functional checks across systems and reporting infrastructure maintained by the team
Coordinate with other teams the completion of various projects, capture and document requirements, communicate them effectively and precisely to implementation teams, advise on preferred solutions, and ultimately validate and accept related deliverables. Communicate effectively and work closely with internal clients to make sure their requirements are met, and delivered solutions validated and accepted
As a self-starter, continuously look for outside-of-the-box process improvements and new, value-add initiatives for the Business Intelligence, Performance Systems and Analytics group
Interface various internal systems, to analyze workflows and data transformation within said systems. Identify opportunities for improvements, communicate the benefits and risks associated with proposed changes. Provide clear, hands-on, technical guidance to implementation teams. Validate and accept delivered solutions. . .
Design and implement automated solutions used for data quality monitoring, evaluation, and exception-based handling, and otherwise manage risk associated with data quality and governance
Collaborate with IT teams to help deliver robust, well-designed automated solutions while mitigating implementation risks.
Learn and keep current in the understanding of the key processes supported by or having an impact on the team.

Must have
What you will bring:
Undergraduate degree in a technical field (i.e. Finance, IT, Mathematics)
Professional designations
CFA, FRM, PRM would be an asset
5+ Years of Investment Industry experience, preferably with various Derivative Instruments
Proven experience as a Business Analyst in Financial Services, preferably Pension Funds
Proficiency with SQL, spreadsheets, database applications (SAP Hana strongly preferred) and some type of general-purpose programming language (Python)
BI Tool experience (specifically with Qlikview/QlikSense, Power BI). Experience in report design, report implementation, and underlying data modeling
Nice to have
Experience in configuring and maintaining production systems (P&L systems preferred)
Basic knowledge of SDLC, SaaS and DevOps concepts, and change management processes
Practical product knowledge, with a solid understanding of theoretical fundamentals, especially those related to derivative valuations and structures
Diligent with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to think conceptually, creatively, always looking for new ways of doing work. Lead initiatives to develop and implement improvements.
Able to work independently with minimal direction as well as part of a team
Works well under pressure handles concurrent tasks, and meets prescribed deadlines
Keen eye for detail and accuracy
