Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of the site strategic safety plan and manage site initiatives related to safety
  • Provide ongoing support and leadership as required to ensure effective management and execution of HSE programs and initiatives
  • Support the JHSC committee and hold leaders and employees accountable to safety
  • Review and update as required, existing policies, programs and procedures in consultation with key stakeholders and the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Successfully champion or lead CI projects as they relate to safety in the plant
  • Review, monitor and evaluate Contractor Safety Programs and provide ongoing HSE support
  • Site liaison with OSHA and other regulatory agencies as required
  • Responsible for organization compliance with occupational health and safety legislation
  • Ensure all environmental reporting and inform leadership team of any risks/requirements from a regulatory perspective
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the Safety team by setting and managing expectations with the intent to achieve Key Performance Indicators, build capability, and develop talent


Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in occupational health and safety, environmental health, or related field or equivalent work experience.


  • 10 years of progressive and leadership experience within a manufacturing industry


  • CRSP designation preferred

  • Passionate about the health and safety of all employees


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills that provide ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with multiple projects and priorities


  • Knowledge and passion for Continuous Improvement methods and tools


  • Comfortable presenting up to senior level audiences


  • Experience in budgeting and strategy / business planning


  • Excellent ability to develop/maintain strong working relationship with people within the plant and across the company.


  • Proven ability to lead a team of safety professionals and provide guidance/coaching
