General Summary:

  • The Director is responsible for developing and implementing content strategy for Sheppard Pratt's owned channels, including but not limited to magazines, video, intranet, website and blog, email and e-newsletters, brochures/flyers.
  • Directs efforts to ensure that content educates and engages consumer, internal, and clinical audiences, through diverse and appealing formats and topics. For web-based content, works to meet the goals of improved SEO, web traffic, time spent, and conversions.
  • Works with digital marketing team and internal communications team to disseminate and promote content through Sheppard Pratt's channels.
  • Assures that all written communications and stories reflect the goals, brand, style and standards of the organization.
  • The Director works to ensure that Sheppard Pratt is creating ample educational content and is engaging its internal and external audiences.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Position requires Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or closely related field.
  • 7 years' experience including proven leadership and excellence in content marketing strategy, exceptional attention to editorial detail, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) keyword research experience, and familiarity with content management systems.
  • Work requires communication skills to successfully utilize marketing content to educate and engage others, express complex, abstract ideas in a straightforward, accessible way for patients and community members, and build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.
  • Work requires analytical skills to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors; achieve key business metrics (page views, bounce rates, form submissions), effectively use SEO; analyze available performance information to determine the impact of created content; and generally bring a thoughtful and strategic approach to problem solving.
