Currently seeking a Hem/Onc - Hematologist/Oncologist to fill a 6-month contract at a veteran care facility in Sioux Falls, SD. Interested candidates will possess a Board Certification in Hem/Onc - Hematology/Oncology and recent experience providing direct patient care.
Schedule details:
Full time opening with 40 hours per week
Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
6-month base contract with possible extension
Responsibilities of the Hem/Onc - Hematologist/Oncologist
Provide comprehensive care to include diagnosis, treatment and education of patients with Hematologic or Oncologic disease.
Evaluate, triage, and prioritize consult requests to ensure timely care for patients suspected of having Hematology/Oncology needs.
Order and supervise the administration of chemotherapeutic agents
Participate in the multidisciplinary tumor board.
Perform bone marrow aspiration and biopsies.
Perform goals of care conversations and collaborate with the Hospice and Palliative Care team to coordinate care and manage symptoms of patients with advanced disease.
Perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews, and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE) to be completed every 6 months
Provide clinical supervision and support to any Physician Assistants and/or Nurse Practitioners working in the Hematology/Oncology clinic.
Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, teams, workgroups as requested.
Contractor Provider rounds shall be conducted on postoperative patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and on the wards. All cases will be discussed in morbidity and mortality conferences, and the contractor physician(s) will provide appropriate information to the COR for inclusion in departmental reports.
Contractors physician(s)shall provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Hematology/Nephrology clinical patients

Board Certification by the American Board of Optometry
Current BLS/ACLS/CPR certification
