Description

Summary:

Under general supervision develops and implements career development counseling for all students and alumni.
Examples of Duties

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Reports to the Director of Career Development Services

2. Provides comprehensive counseling program in Career Exploration
  • provides career assessment and counseling services
  • conducts follow-up counseling services for students after interviewing
  • conducts workshops on career preparation
  • develops and implements Mock Interview Program
  • observes and critiques students' career search skills
  • informs students of eligibility requirements, policies and procedures
  • conducts initial counseling of all potential co-op students prior to first conference with Co-op Coordinator
3.Administers the Recruitment Program
  • schedules requests for on-campus recruiting visits
  • develops interviewing schedules based on recruiters' specification
  • communicates with recruiters regarding referrals
  • develops statistical reports on all on-campus recruitment activities
  • conducts exit interviews with visiting recruiters and supply feedback to students
  • identifies and researches potential sources of employment for graduating students
  • works directly with the Co-op Coordinator in scheduling co-op interviews and information sessions on-campus
4Assists in the development of marketing materials for employers and students

5Develops and maintains effective relationships with business, industrial and government employers.

6.Serves as liaison between students, faculty, and employers

7. Plans and coordinates one CDS sponsored program annually

8Contributes to overall CDS planning, management, evaluation and decision making

9. Participates in Professional Development activities
  • joins participates in professional organization
  • makes presentations to other professionals in the field
  • participates in community activities
  • keeps abreast with changing trends and techniques in recruiting
10. Assists with the planning and the implementation of other CDS sponsored programs

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
  • Master's degree in one of the following areas: Counseling, Education, Business Administration, Personnel Administration, Human Resource Management, Liberal Arts or related fields
  • Two-three years' experience in student personnel, industrial human resources, university career services or secondary education
