Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Accompanist provides piano accompaniment for music students. May provide additional assistance in support of Music Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Attends rehearsals and performances in support of the Music Department.
2. Ensures that students have opportunity to learn the music score, diction, pitch, tempo, rhythm, and style.
3. Coordinates lesson plans with Instructor.
4. Monitors that students meet their rehearsal requirements.
5. Provides Instructor with student evaluations of practice effort and approach during rehearsals.
6. Provides piano accompaniment for music activities to include choirs/instrumental/solo rehearsals and performances, assists students to read the assigned music with the right tempo, rhythm, pitch, diction and style.
7. Performs at major productions as scheduled by Instructor.
8. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Skilled pianist
* Extensive knowledge of vocal repertoire
* Excellent sight-reading ability
* Cheerful and positive demeanor
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
* Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, and a piano
* Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
* Work is performed in a climate-controlled office/theater environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree in Music or related field and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience in a higher education setting
* Previous experience working with students who have unique barriers and experience in assisting these students with their educational success
Salary
Hourly Pay Rate is $41.16
