Position Title:       Cannabis Security Officer                                           

Department:         Dispensary                    

Reports to:            Retail (Dispensary) Manager                      

Classification:       Non-Exempt                                   

Position Status:    Regular, Part-Time

THE POSITION:

The incumbent is expected to work in accordance with the mission, purpose, and values of the Colusa Indian Community Council.

The incumbent must be able to work nights and weekends. The Dispensary Store hours are 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., seven days a week.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent yourself, Colusa Indian Community Council and customers with complete professionalism.
  • Maintain a strong, visible point of control for both the interior and exterior of the facility at all times.
  • Establish and cultivate a safe and secure environment for employees and customers.
  • Fully comprehend and enforce all facility security policies/procedures for customers, vendors, staff and visitors.
  • Conduct routine and random foot patrols throughout the facility, inspect the physical condition of the facilities security measures and report any suspicious behavior or activity immediately.
  • Practice effective communication with Facility Staff and Management to control the flow of inbound/outbound foot traffic in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Defuse any incidents with difficult persons with sound conflict resolution skills, involve Facility Management as needed.
  • Proactively monitor CCTV stations to identify active areas of concern and engage appropriately.
  • Understand and enforce the Tribe’s Cannabis regulations and policies.
  • Scan Customer/Patient Identification into system.
  • Verify age of Customers.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience:
    • Five (5) years of experience in a retail environment required, preferably cannabis retail.
    • Minimum two (2) years of experience in the Security industry and/or one (1) year in the Cannabis Security field.
  • Licensing and Other Qualifications:
    • Must obtain required Tribal Cannabis license, once hired.
    • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
    • Possess a valid California Driver’s License.
    • Possess a valid California BSIS Guard Card.
    • Must be CPR certified or willing to complete certification within 30 days of hire.

  • Passionate about serving the cannabis community.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background check and fingerprinting.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment & able to multi-task.
  • Flexibility and ability to assist others when needed.
  • Must enjoy working with diverse groups of people.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, and regulations.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit for an extended period of time; and
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds with assistance.
