Payroll & Accounting Admin. Job at Federal Signal Corporation in Houston

Key Activities/Responsibilities

Payroll

* Responsible for multi-state full payroll cycle for 200+ employees:

* Weekly hourly payroll.

* Semi-monthly salaried payroll.

* Quarterly gain sharing bonus payment.

* Bi-annual rental center bonus payment.

* Annual bonus payment.

* Other special payrolls.

* Review and download times and information from the labor system. This includes reviewing times for proper approval and accuracy before processing the payroll. Knowledge of company policies is required. Will work closely with Human Resources and be available for employee payroll questions. Confidentiality of employee's business and personal information is of the utmost importance.

* Payroll tax reporting for each payroll including quarterly and yearly reporting to the federal & state governments.

* Accurately enter all payroll related data necessary to process and meet deadlines.

* Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly payroll reports including but not limited to payroll tax payments, weekly overtime reports, monthly headcount report, gainshare bonus, commission statements, OSHA hours worked, etc.

* Process child support garnishments, levies, or any other mandated payroll garnishments accordingly.

* Follow the established company process for verifying and accurately entering changes to employee direct deposit details.

* Year-end payroll activities (year-end close of payroll files, updating payroll files for the next year, balance W2s, etc.)

* Update and maintain documentation of the payroll and invoicing processes.

* Assist in audits performed by internal and/or external auditors.

* Contribute to the modification and improvement of departmental processes and workflows.

* Comply with company records retention and destruction policies.

* Order credit cards and business cards for new hires when applicable.

* Performs other duties and special project as assigned.

Accounting

* Journal entries.

* Accruals for vacation.

* Assist Accounting Department as necessary.

* Performs other duties and special project as assigned.
