Janitor Job at Majestic Steel USA in Houston

Majestic Steel is excited to add a janitor to our Houston team! Performing custodial duties to keep service center and adjacent grounds clean and orderly condition. Janitor will also provide basic maintenance support by making minor equipment repairs, cleaning or lubricating parts or equipment, replacing bulbs and other preventative maintenance support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Clean and maintain production work areas. Remove debris and refuse.
2. Mop and sweep floors, including operation of powered floor scrubber/sweeper.
3. Maintain cleanliness of office areas.
4. Clean and sanitize bathrooms and locker rooms.
5. Empty trash and recycling cans indoors / outdoors, replace liners and clean receptacles as necessary.
6. Restock supplies in bathrooms, break rooms and common areas.
7. Paint or touch up caution areas, machines, stairs, etc. as necessary.
8. Maintain adequate inventory of cleaning supplies and request new supplies as needed.
9. Prepare documentation as needed regarding work and maintenance performed.
10. Maintain clear exits and building entryways, including snow removal manually as well as using plow (if applicable).
11. Operate lift truck as needed.
12. Operate all warehouse equipment in a safe and reliable manner.
13. Report all equipment failures to immediate supervisor.
14. Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
15. Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Items may include: safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, etc.
16. Other job related duties and special projects as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience Requirements

• Some janitorial/custodial experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements

• Plan and prioritize workload.
• Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools and equipment of janitorial service.
• Ability to maintain neat and orderly conditions in work area and help maintain and promote safe conditions throughout the facility.
• Operate assigned equipment in a safe, effective and efficient manner.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Supervisory Responsibility
• No direct supervisory responsibilities.

Additional

• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to walk; sit; stand; climb; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl up to 10 hours.
• Must be able to work in both hot and cold conditions.
• Must be able to work outside normal business hours/days, as needed, which includes weekdays and weekends
