Job Objective:
As the Janitor/Driver you will provide cleaning and driving services for the corps; to assist with receiving shipments of supplies; to provide outside maintenance. The Janitor/Driver performs routine and general cleaning, picks up and helps unload donations, assists with seasonal driving, maintaining assigned area(s) to meet staff, clients, and customer satisfaction...ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.
What You Will Do:
- Complete daily cleaning duties as assigned
- Clean and dust all horizontal and vertical surfaces including windows, doors, desks, shelves, intake vents, tables, chairs, and cabinets
- Maintain clean carpets by detailed vacuuming, spot removal
- Perform hard surface care for tile, concrete, tabletops, drinking fountains, and counters including buffing, sweeping, washing, polishing, spot removal, and disinfecting
- Perform spot cleaning for walls, light switches, and doors as needed
- Ensure cleanliness of kitchen counters, sinks, appliances, and floors
- Empty trash and recycle receptacles; replace liners as needed
- Monitor and report maintenance repairs
- Coordinate maintenance bids as needed
- Organize cleaning supplies
- Assist with building repairs as needed
- Drive to pick up food donations, assist with unloading and documentation
- Set up and tear down as needed for different activities
- Assist with all aspects of the Christmas efforts, Kettles, Toy Shop, etc.
- Perform outside maintenance including groundskeeping and snow removal
- Other tasks as assigned by the Officer
Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education: High School Diploma Required
Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed. Findings may disqualify an individual for this position.
Experience: Janitorial experience (preferred); experience driving a pick-up truck/trailer combo, including backing (preferred)
Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.
Skills/Abilities:
- Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
- Knowledge of cleaning supplies and use of chemicals.
Supervisory Responsibility: Supervise Volunteers and groups as needed

Physical Requirements Include:
- Able to twist, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods occasionally
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
- Able to reach and stoop to stock shelves
- Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
Travel: As needed, must have a valid Driver's License
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office, church, outside environment; may require some evenings and weekends, as needed.
