Job Objective:

You will provide cleaning services for the Center; to assist with receiving shipments of supplies; to provide outside maintenance (lawn maintenance, snow removal). To work well in this role you should have basic maintenance knowledge around building repairs and experience cleaning.

What you will do:
  • Complete daily cleaning duties as assigned
  • Maintain equipment and office areas in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Conform to universal precautions when handling or cleaning potentially contaminated or hazardous materials, treating all persons as potential carriers of contagious or infectious diseases
  • Receive, inventory, distribute, and store deliveries to the Center
  • Properly store chemicals and equipment to minimize loss and prevent risk to residents
  • Assist other janitorial and housekeeping staff as needed
  • Assist janitorial staff with light cleaning duties when needed and as available
  • Use equipment and chemicals as instructed, complying with safety precautions
  • Keep the security and safety of the Center occupants and The Salvation Army property as a priority
  • Direct concerns regarding residents to the Maintenance Supervisor. Keep information about residents of the center and their contact with the Center confidential.
Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High School Diploma required

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: Experience with janitorial equipment and tools necessary. Experience working in a social service setting providing services to persons in crisis preferred

Certifications: CPR certification required within 90 days

Skills/Abilities: Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership and field personnel.

Supervisory Responsibility: No Supervisory responsibility for this position

Physical Requirements Include:
  • Able to twist, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods occasionally
  • Able to lift up to 40lbs
  • Able reach and stoop to stock shelves
  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
Travel: None anticipated

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a residential environment. Full time and part time positions.
