The Business Analyst's role is to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient business and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems
requirements. The Business Analyst is also responsible for generating and compiling reports based on the findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of technical expertise and clear insights into current business practices.
Essential Functions
- Communicates effectively with multiple levels of management and with various user groups and stakeholders
- Serves as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions that meet user and business needs
- Evaluates business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions
- Analyzes existing systems and business models and understands software development lifecycle
- Leads ongoing reviews of business processes and developing optimization strategies. Leads design sessions in prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow
- Identifies options for potential solutions and assessing them for specific technical and business suitability
- Conducts requirements analysis and prepare specific proposals for modified or replacement systems
- Works closely with the development team and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction
- Stays up-to-date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems.
- Reviews and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
- Supports users on change control and system updates
- Help Quality Assurance teams to execute test plans and coordinate User Acceptance Testing
- Constantly seeks out areas of inefficiency and seizes opportunities to document, analyze, and redesign business processes and systems
- Effectively communicate their insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management
- Document various artifacts such as Project Initiation Document (PID), Business Requirements Document (BRD)
- Functional Requirements Document (FRD), and UAT test cases
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Gathers critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and producing useful reports
- Provides leadership, training, coaching, and guidance to junior staff
- Ensures solutions meet business needs and requirements
- Identifies and establishes scope and parameters of systems analysis in order to define outcome criteria and measure-taking actions
- Collaborates in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications
- Conducts research on software solutions to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
