Our technicians work from schematics, diagrams or written and verbal instructions to accurately test and qualify microscopic testing products using electro-mechanical testing equipment. This role requires strong testing and data interpretation skills, including the ability to make both testing and mechanical adjustments based on data, the ability to derive, validate, and document component tolerances. This role also serves as an assembly expert and is expected to train other technicians in assembly operations as well as participate in process improvements to improve yield and work environment.This position is a member of an interdisciplinary manufacturing engineering team, chartered with maintaining and improving manufacturing processes and products to cement Form Factor's role as a leading supplier of microelectronic test solutions. This team is focused on processing and building production probes for experiments under the direction of process engineering; collecting, organizing, and evaluating data; preparing and maintain production and maintenance documentation; as well as dispositioning material on hold and assisting in troubleshooting process issues.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPrimary Duties include: First line of response in resolving tool related issues raised by production operators. Performs repairs, preventative maintenance, calibration, and qualification activities for production tools. Troubleshoot and diagnose inspection/measurement failures. Dispositions production & engineering lots on hold due to process/measurement or inspection issues. Monitor quality metrics for assembly and test areas and address quality issues and trends. Identify and implement process improvements to increase output and improve yield. Participate in pass down and cross team meetings. Write operation/engineering procedures; train and certify production operators on production assembly and test processes. Executes Design of Experiment (DOE) provided by Engineering and provides data summary & report to Engineering Execute small scope projects, including tool replacement, process improvement, and area improvement projects from design through implementation. Performs/Supports Engineering in CAPA/root cause analysis/8D activities for yield issues during and postproduction. Create Non-Standard Work Instructions as needed to support special manufacturing processes.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED Trade School, Associates degree, Military training or equivalent in Electronics, Microelectronics, Electromechanical systems, Engineering, Factory Production, or related subject. Minimum of 5 years of experience in an electronics manufacturing or testing environment. Minimum of 5 year of experience collecting, organizing and evaluating data. Strong knowledge of electronics and component testing, such as circuit diagram analysis, voltage, current and resistance calculations, and circuit segregation and hand probing techniques. Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly troubleshooting and repair, such as linear drive, ball screw, switch assembly diagnosis and repair techniques. Demonstrated flexibility in balancing changing priorities in a manual process environment. Demonstrated ability to train others in process methodologies and techniques. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to write, read, comprehend, and execute complex work instructions. Able to read assembly documentation and understand Bill of Material lists and assembly instructions. Able to collect, organize and evaluate Statistical Process Control (SPC) data. Experience with Microsoft products (Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and Word). Able to sit or stand for extended periods and work under a microscope. Able to wear safety lab equipment such as lab smock, hair covering, shoe covering, and gloves. Able to safely handle chemicals such as solvents and adhesives while adhering to all safety rules and procedures. Able to perform detailed visual inspection tasks. Substantial hands-on experience as an engineering tech in a wafer-fab or sort/test environment desired. Experience with VNA tools for RF measurement (TDR, Impedance measurement, Insertion loss, Return loss measurement) desired. Experience working at high frequencies (50+ GHz) in both a coaxial and waveguide environment is a plus. Working knowledge of SolidWorks, LabVIEW, JMP, SPC tools and other automation and productivity tools is beneficial. Previous experience in the semiconductor industry with on-wafer probing is beneficial.ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Requires the ability to perform routine bending and lifting of 10 - 25 lbs. Requires the ability to work continuously inside a clean room environment Requires the ability to work safely with chemicals while wearing protective clothing (clean room smock, goggles) and the ability to work with hazardous materials and chemicals and follow safety procedures.The pay range for this role in Beaverton, OR is between $31.55 and $41.42. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
