Community Academies of New Orleans (“CANO”) is a new charter school management organization created to bring together Esperanza Charter School, Foundation Prep Charter School, and Lafayette Academy Charter School with the ultimate goal of strengthening all three schools. The nonprofit boards that governed Foundation Prep and Choice Foundation voted to establish this partnership in 2019 to benefit from the organizations’ shared values, similar programming, and strong leadership, and set operations of CANO to launch ahead of the 2020-2021 academic year.

About the Role
An Bi-Lingual Administrative Assistant is responsible for handling various clerical tasks in a school’s office., and has strong communication skills. They ensure that the school environment runs as smoothly as possible and allow teachers to focus their energies purely on providing children with an education, rather than worrying about keeping records and other vital yet time-consuming tasks. This role is a direct report to the Principal, Assistant Principal and Operations Manager.
About the Opportunity
Collaborate with school officials, parents, and teachers, handle complaints, and address issues pertaining to students and school policies, they also answer emails from administrators, parents, and vendors.
Coordinates a variety of programs and/or activities for the purpose of ensuring availability of facilities and/or equipment and delivering services in conformance to established guidelines. Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Evaluates situations (e.g. involving other staff, students, parents, the public, police, etc.) for the purpose of directing to appropriate personnel for resolutions.
Maintains a variety of computerized and manual records, files, and department databases (e.g. information packets, rosters/listings, calendars, outstanding supply orders, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing reliable information and complying with organization.
Greets all incoming visitors for the purpose of ensuring that guests sign in/out as required.
Maintains inventory of supplies and materials (e.g. forms, office supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring items’ availability.
Performs record keeping and general clerical functions (e.g. copying, faxing, mailings, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or materials as needed.
Prepares a wide variety of reports and written materials (e.g. correspondence, agendas, minutes, newsletters, Parent Handbooks, bulletins, programs, annual reports, master calendar, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information in accordance with district, state, federal and/or administrative requirements.
Responds to inquiries from a wide variety of internal and external parties (e.g. staff, parents, students, public agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication among departments and/or providing direction as may be required.
Supports the Principal and other administrative personnel for the purpose of assisting with their administrative functions.
Maintains office equipment, tools and work areas (e.g. cleaning, load supplies, clear paper jams, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe working environment and the availability of items within a specific time frame.
Aware of all school attendance policies as well as policies regarding school visitors, picking up students, early dismissals, and other pertinent rules
Provide assistance by answering questions, contacting requested personnel, and explaining school procedures regarding signing out students or making deliveries.
Translates Spanish to English throughout the day to assist with helping the needs of
Requirements
High School Diploma (required)
Bachelor’s degree
Two years (2) of clerical experience
Must be Bilingual (Fluent in both Spanish and English)
Must be able to handle situations professionally .
A strong desire to work towards equity within education
Growth mindset and a desire to learn and grow through consistent coaching and feedback
Able to translate both Spanish and English
A patient, resourceful, and resilient personality
Belief that all students are capable of success and deserve to be pushed to a rigorous academic and behavioral bar

Physical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 75% of the workday.
Able to occasionally move about inside the office and school building to meetings and other assigned duties
Occasionally ascend stairs to migrate throughout the workspace
