Job Title: Sports Leagues Coordinator

General Overview:
As a Youth and Adult Sports League Coordinator, you'll play a vital role in overseeing fun and engaging sporting opportunities for people of all ages and skill levels. You'll be responsible for supporting the entire lifecycle of leagues, from planning and promotion to scheduling, officiating, and ensuring a positive experience for all participants.
Overall Responsibilities:
Oversee the execution of multiple youth/adult sports leagues (ex. basketball, futsal, flag football, volleyball and other potential sports) for a community athletics league.
Ensure the smooth operation of all leagues, adhering to league rules, regulations, and safety protocols.
Foster a positive and inclusive playing environment for all participants.
Manage teams, players, referees, and volunteers, to ensure optimal playing experiences for all.
Maintain accurate records and stats for each league.
Collaborate with other staff members and stakeholders to ensure the overall program expectations are being met.
Specific Duties:
League Planning and Organization:
Collaborate with the Athletic Director to create league schedules, game formats, and playoff structures.
Ensure we have access to venues and equipment is onsite for play.
Create and distribute league rules and regulations.
Participate in pre-season meetings and draft nights (if applicable).
Team and Player Management:
Recruit and register individual players and teams for future leagues.
Track attendance for team rosters and player eligibility.
Address player conduct issues and enforce disciplinary actions.
Facilitate communication between league officials, players, and coaches.
Referee and Volunteer Management:
Provide any support needed to referees for all league games.
Manage volunteer assignments and ensure proper staffing for events.
Provide support and resources to referees and volunteers.
Marketing and Promotion:
Provide content for promoting leagues, ex, Pictures, Celebrations etc...
Promote leagues through social media, website, and community outreach.
Organize events and activities to generate excitement and participation.
Recordkeeping and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of league standings, statistics, and finances.
Prepare and submit regular reports to league leadership and stakeholders.
Collaboration:
Work effectively with other staff members, league officials, and community partners.
Represent the athletics league program in a professional and positive manner.
Requirements
Experience organizing and managing sports leagues or athletic events.
Strong understanding of the rules and regulations of basketball, futsal, flag football, and volleyball.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to recruit, motivate, and manage volunteers.
Proficient in computer software and technology relevant to league operations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Positive attitude and a passion for sports and recreation.
First AID/CPR trained (training will be provided if needed)
Ability to work nights and weekends.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to anticipate, identify and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. To accurately complete all required paperwork. To professionally handle and/or get help to resolve conflict. Ability to follow instructions as given and/or directed by supervisor.
