Physical Therapy Supervisor Type of Position Full time Search Location(s) Bronx, NY, Brooklyn, NY, Manhattan, NY, Queens, NY, Staten Island, NY Apply Now (https://phe.tbe.taleo.net/phe03/ats/careers/v2/applyRequisition?org=CPOFNYS&cws=37&rid=6084) Job Brief Responsible for the overall supervision of the physical therapy staff including planning and implementation of PT services; Shift Worked:Varies Weekly Hours:37.5 FLSA Status:Exempt Pay range:$85,000 – $90,000POSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for the overall supervision of the physical therapy staff including planning and implementation of PT services; assisting in budgeting; hiring, evaluation of department staff; integrating and coordinating services; safety and performance improvement monitoring and reporting; development and implementation of policies and procedures and compliance with regulatory requirements; provides direct clinical services to persons receiving services within physical therapy scope of practice, including evaluation and plan of care/treatments; and develops programs and implements new services when available.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:+ Supervises physical therapy personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions. Identify developmental needs of others and coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge, skills and abilities through in-service training.+ Provides consultation, makes recommendations, gives appropriate advice, and/or facilitates decisions.+ Writes or drafts technical reports, articles or related material based on research, investigation or analysis.+ Meets on a regular basis with the Director of Rehabilitation Services to discuss issues that affect the department directly and indirectly.+ Maintains a reduced caseload including reviewing MD’s referral and persons receiving services medical record prior to determining PT treatment.+ Evaluates persons receiving services and administers therapy to preserve and improve abilities for independent function, such as range of motion, strength, tolerance, coordination, ambulation, and activities of daily living. When independence is not possible, considers alterative strategies.+ Evaluates, fits, adjusts prosthetic, orthotics and other adaptive and assistive devices. Modifies/constructs adaptive equipment as necessary.+ Consults with outside agencies and interdisciplinary team to discuss treatment plans, new or unusual situations, findings, options, and suggesting recommendations if warranted.+ Documents individuals’ progress and revises treatment plans as required. All documentation must be completed through ECW within the time frame established by the Healthcare Center.+ Performs all other duties as assigned.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:+ Graduate of an accredited physical therapy school, Master’s degree or higher preferred; New York State license, or eligible for New York State licensure to practice physical therapy.+ Seven years experience working in a physical disability, LTC or acute care setting.+ Thorough knowledge in PT evaluation and treatment; the ability to evaluate information against a set of standards; ability to supervise and manage PT staff and rehab mechanics; understand and implement the principles of PT modalities; full knowledge in the use of ambulatory aides and therapeutic exercises; and must demonstrate excellent written-verbal communication skills and be personal computer proficient with Microsoft Word.+ Physical Demands: a. Therapist to be able to demonstrate standard pivot transfers with weight bearing individuals. b. Therapist to be able to demonstrate a two person lift transfer of individuals who are non-weight bearing. c. Therapist to be able to demonstrate the ability to utilize a mechanical lifter as needed.+ Must be able to travel as assigned to sites in the boroughs and/or oversee physical therapists or physical therapy assistants in the Healthcare Centers, day programs or residential sites, if warranted.REQUIREMENTS:+ Attend/participate in mandatory educational programs as defined by the agency and department policy and New York State.+ Maintains current licensure and certification.+ Performs all job responsibilities in full compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Adheres to the agency’s corporate compliance program, including the code of business conduct, the NYS and federal false claims acts, whistleblower protections and mandatory reporting. Completes corporate compliance training at least annually. Fully cooperates in all corporate compliance investigations and reviews.
